Justin Gaethje to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov, UFC president Dana White says

After beating Tony Ferguson at UFC 249, former Northern Colorado Bears all-American wrestler Justin Gaethje said he had his sights on one man: “I want the biggest challenge in the world and that’s Khabib (Nurmagomedov).”

Now it’s going to happen.

UFC president Dana White said in an interview with CNN Tuesday that the two will fight for Nurmagomedov’s lightweight title on Oct. 24.

“That fight’s going to happen,” White told CNN. “Khabib vs. Gaethje, Oct. 24.”

Gaethje (22-2) has been on a four-fight win streak, winning each of them via knockout.

Nurmagomedov (28-0) last fought in September 2019, beating Conor McGregor by submission. He was scheduled to fight Ferguson in May, but had to pull out due to travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
