Conor McGregor insisted that he is competing for the tag of the greatest fighter of all time in the UFC along with Anderson Silva.
The former two-weight world champion posed in front artwork in his house inspired by infamous rapper Notorious BIG as he took to Twitter to speak on the MMA’s greatest ever athletes.
Whilst he did recognise the former middleweight champion Anderson Silva as the best to ever fight in the octagon, he also made a case for himself to be considered the best of all time.
McGregor tweeted about the UFC’s greatest fighters in front of Notorious BIG inspired artwork
McGregor was the first fighter in history to hold the title belts in two different weight classes
‘The array of finishes, across two divisions, with champion status in one, Anderson Silva is No.1 MMA GOAT [Greatest of all time],’ McGregor tweeted.
‘My array of finishes, across three divisions, with champion status in two, I’m No.2. If not tied No.1.
‘However [I am] still active, No.1 is fully secured by career end. And easily.’
Anderson Silva holds the record for the longest title reign in the UFC with 2,457 days
Silva holds the record for the longest title reign in UFC history at 2,457 days whilst McGregor became the first fighter in history to hold title belts in two separate weight divisions simultaneously.
‘GSP [Georges St-Pierre] is in at three. Much less array of finishes but champion status in two,’ he added.
‘He is far behind though. Reasons = Left 170 after much damage taken+questionable decision. Never re-engaged 170lb successors. Bottled Anderson fight. Only moved when one eyed fighter presented. Played safe.
‘Jon [Jones] is four, maybe tied-three. More array of finishes than three and still active, but champion status in just one. Reasons = Multiple lacklustre decision performances + questionable decision win. Attempting to safe play HW entry/avoiding its champion.’
McGregor also mentioned Georges St-Pierre and Jon Jones as he discussed the UFC’s best
The Irishman also took into account failed drug tests as he continued to express his opinion on the UFC’s best.
McGregor has never failed a drugs test whilst both Silva and Jones have tested positive for banned substances in the past.
He wrote:’I didn’t mentions PED results on multiple entrants, even though that makes me the clear current No.1 MMA GOAT, along with still being active.
‘Although it shames, as well as puts all runs+finishes in complete doubt, I’ve snored multiple juice heads. A true GOAT must do it all.’
