Luis Severino injury update: Yankees starter ‘continues to feel strong,’ says Aaron Boone

Luis Severino continues to work toward returning to the mound.

The 25-year-old right-hander threw another bullpen session Monday and the Yankees were encouraged by his progress, manager Aaron Boone told reporters.

“I thought he looked really good,” Boone said (via the New York Post). “He continues to feel strong. (He’s) fun to watch throw. He’s special. I thought (the ball) was coming out really well. His change-up had a good… It was a really good sign for him in his second bullpen, after having general fatigue and soreness after his first bullpen, to just roll right into this and look like (Severino) was nice.”

Severino has not pitched this season as he has dealt with a lat strain and shoulder inflammation. The two-time All-Star finished with a 19-8 record and a 3.39 ERA in 2018.
