Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Monday’s card on the Ballarat Synthetic track.
LIDO BEACH (Race 6 No. 3 – $3.50)
Ready to peak third up. Drops in grade and gets weight relief with apprentice claim. On his best form looks perfectly placed.
RAAZOU (Race 1 No. 2 – $1.75)
Raazou is short odds but the Leon and Troy Corstens-trained gelding can get punters off to a good start at Ballarat. Both his first-up runs have been solid and he has jumped out well at Flemington leading up to this.
A LONE HERO (Race 5 No. 4 – $2.80)
A Lone Hero was stiff not to win at Werribee first-up before working home OK in a harder race at Pakenham last time. He’s better suited back at BM58 level at Ballarat.
TONNARELLA (Race 7 No. 2 – $3.50)
Tonnarella won’t have to be a star to win the last at Ballarat on Monday. She broke her maiden in game fashion in the wet at Hamilton last time out and the step to 1500m should suit her.
IDEAL MISS (Race 3 No. 5 – $7)
Ideal Miss improved sharply when back on good ground at Echuca last time and she wasn’t far away from the handy Spanish Snitzel at her only synthetic run. She’s over the odds.
Small fields made it hard for jockeys to build strong books at Ballarat on Monday but Dean Holland has a solid hand with RAAZOU (Race 1 No. 2 – $1.75), HURTLE (Race 2 No. 2 – $2.50), GALANTHEUM (Race 3 No. 4 – $2.30), TUFFNUT (Race 6 No. 7 – $18), TONNARELLA (Race 7 No. 2 – $3.50).
