Isotope, Away Game and Forbidden Love all fared well at the Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas barrier draw

Bookies already believed the Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas was a three-horse race and their belief was fortified at the barrier draw for Saturday’s $2 million race.

The three leading contenders, the only horses in single figures in the betting market, all drew favourably and Isotope remained the solid $2.50 favourite while her two main rivals firmed in betting.

Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace’s star filly Away Game, attempting to create history and become the first 2YO Classic winner to win the 3YO Guineas the following year, was arguably the biggest winner after drawing barrier 3.

Away Game took a trim from $3.90 to $3.80 with jockey Glen Boss now able to position her among the leading bunch without spending too many petrol tickets.

It was a relief for the Boss and the trainers after two-year-old filly Fake Love had drawn the barrier 20 in the 2YO Classic.

Richard and Michael Freedman would have been just as happy after their filly Forbidden Love drew barrier four and firmed from $5 to $4.80.

However Tony Gollan’s elite filly Isotope remains the solid $2.50 favourite after drawing barrier 7 and she is the one they all have to beat.

The only other Guineas contenders who bookies are giving any hope to are Queenslanders Apache Chase and Gotta Kiss.

Apache Chase took a slight trim from $14 to $13 after coming up with barrier one while Gotta Kiss remained solid at $13 after drawing barrier nine.
