Tommy Fury vs KSI fight is almost a done deal, confirms John Fury
An agreement for Tommy Fury to fight KSI is close to being agreed, according to John Fury.
Fury was in attendance to watch KSI’s exhibition victory over Joe Fournier in London on Saturday night. The YouTuber secured the victory in controversial circumstances after catching his opponent with an accidental elbow that sent him to the mat in the second round.
With Fury joining him in the ring post-fight, the two stood toe-to-toe before almost coming to blows in the centre of the ring.
The former Love Island star, who holds an unbeaten professional record of 9-0, secured a split decision win over old rival Jake Paul back in February.
Both men agreed to a rematch shortly after but with Paul now set to fight former UFC Nate Diaz in August, Fury is looking for a new dance partner.
Fury Snr, who also trains his son Tommy, has been in talks with Misfits Boxing and KSI’s promoter Kalle Sauerland since April with talks to stage the fight this summer now nearing a positive conclusion.
‘We are in talks and we’ve been in talks for a while,’ John Fury told Metro.co.uk on behalf of FreeBets.com.
‘But I know KSI wants the fight, Tommy wants the fight, the fans want the fight. If they want it and we can get the deal done, we will get it done.
‘We are working on it, we are close, we are just dotting a few Is and crossing a few Ts to get the contracts home and signed off.
‘Tommy can be ready in four weeks, he stays in the gym keeping fit, I tell him that because these fights can happen in a blink of an eye.
‘We are ready to go, it is just a matter of agreeing final terms and getting the contracts out and we’re on. That is the fight I’m looking at for Tommy next.’
KSI has fought just once under professional boxing rules – his 2019 victory over Logan Paul – and it remains to be seen whether his meeting with Fury will be an exhibition contest, where his record is 4-0.
‘You can’t train for these guys. When you are sparring with professional boxers, they do everything properly. These guys do a lot of things wrong but that is what makes them so dangerous,’ Fury said.
‘They live in the gym and they want it so bad. I believe that KSI believes in his own mind that he can knock Tommy out.
‘Confidence is a game changer but Tommy is a confident lad too and he has already beaten the best of them in Jake Paul. KSI can cause problems, he is a confident man and he can be a dangerous man.’
