YouTube star Logan Paul is being sued for $3.5million after a 2017 video saw him post about a dead body in a Japanese forest.
Paul, who found fame on Vine and then YouTube, has recently turned his attention to the boxing world and is scheduled to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr in February this year.
Prior to his turn in the ring, Logan posted a video that appeared to show the body of an alleged suicide victim in Aokigahara Forest, also dubbed as “suicide forest”.
Planeless Pictures were hoping to release a film with Logan, alongside his brother Jake and several other famous faces on the platform.
They allege the video had more than six million views in 24 hours before being removed.
The claim, which was obtained by the People, suggests Paul “knew that the broadcast of the suicide would have a substantial impact on his followers and would also have a serious adverse impact on Planeless.”
It further alleges that Paul “intended to take advantage of the substantial anticipated exposure that the broadcast of the suicide would generate and thus enhance Paul's celebrity and acted in reckless disregard for the adverse consequences that he knew would result to Planeless”.
Following the video, Google ended its relationship with Planeless and refused to distribute their movie Airplane Mode.
The company is seeking that Paul pays back the $3.5m contract that was lost as well as other general and consequential damages.
Star Sport have contacted Logan's representatives for comment on the ongoing situation.
Since the video, Logan has been looking to rebuild his reputation and has turned his attentions to a fledgling boxing career.
After fighting fellow YouTuber KSI twice, the American is now planning an exhibition with pound-for-pound legend Mayweather.
The exhibition bout, which is scheduled for February has drawn condemnation from across the sport, with his brother Jake also trying to forge a career in the sport.

Jake recently knocked out former NBA star Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr’s exhibition and has warned his brother he could be in real trouble, should the bout materialise.
“My brother’s f*****,” Jake told TMZ Sports earlier this week. “(The fight is) bad for the sport, I think it’s just for clout. My brother’s the fake fighter, I’m the real fighter. He’s 0-1-1, I’m 3-0.
“But I wish him the best of luck. (But) don’t get in there with a guy who’s never even been knocked down. He was knocked down once, and it was by accident.”
