Froch spots ‘load of b*****ks’ from Anthony Joshua after four days in darkness

Carl Froch has lashed out at Anthony Joshua's darkness retreat – because the heavyweight ruined it by taking his phone along.

The two-time former world champion paid £2,000 to spend four days in total darkness in a remote cabin back in October ahead of a potential ring return in December. The 34-year-old said the dark was where 'lions are made' but was recorded at the location by a pal.

In a video of the trip, Joshua asked: "Why did I put myself in this situation?" Then added: "BUT! This is where lions are made, know what I'm saying.

"This is where lions are made. Too many people are attached, they don't wanna detach themselves. What I'm trying to do is showcase to myself that there's actually not much I need. I just need myself."

Former super-middleweight Froch, who beat George Groves in-front of a sold-out Wembley Stadium in his final fight, hasn't held back in a chat with Grosvenor Casino.

He began: "If someone needs time by themself and wants to spend four days alone in the dark, go away and do it because as you become more spiritual.

"I'm becoming more spiritual and becoming more connected with my own subconscious and with nature – I think it's brilliant to go and spend some time on your own.

"But don't tell me you're serious about spending that time alone and having a deeper connection to his thoughts when he’s taking his phone with him, so I think that's a load of b*******.”

Froch also said that AJ, 29-3, shouldn't moan about pressure from fans because of the responsibility that comes with being a leading boxer.

He added: "With great power comes great responsibility. He was a world champion and people are paying him their hard earned money and making him very rich.

"Boxing is the entertainment business and AJ is obligated to turn up and put on a performance. Rafa Nadal does it every time he's on centre court. Novak Djokovic performs every time under immense pressure, so don't b**** and moan to me that the fans – who have made you a multi millionaire – are putting pressure on you.

"That's part and parcel of being a professional heavyweight boxer. If you can't stand the heat get out the f****g kitchen. Stop b****ing about it."
