Cristiano Ronaldo was seemingly booed loudly by spectators in Riyadh as he took his seat ringside ahead of Tyson Fury’s crossover clash with Francis Ngannou.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner made the move to join the Saudi Pro League in December 2022, and has been a regular starter and captain at Al-Nassr ever since.
But it appeared that many in the stadium may be supporters of the other Riyadh teams – such as Al-Hilal, where Neymar Jnr plies his trade when fit – when Ronaldo made his way to his seat.
Accompanied by his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez, Ronaldo was forced to walk to his ringside perch to the scattered sound of boos.
The forward looked stony-faced in response to his reception – and failed to crack a smile when the camera returned to him when seated.

That picture received even louder boos, prompting TNT Sports anchor Laura Woods to question teasingly ‘how long his contract (at Al-Nassr) is’.
However, it could have simply been a case of a noise mix-up, with a ‘boo’ sounding deceptively similar to the crowed ‘siu’ celebration the Portugal international popularised whilst playing for Los Blancos.
Ronaldo was one of a number of famous faces spotted in attendance at the spectacle, both from the world of boxing and beyond.
Fellow footballers Aymeric Laporte and Roberto Firmino – who both also feature for Saudi sides – scored the much-desired invitation, as did a former team-mate of Ronaldo’s in Rio Ferdinand.

Retired legends including Luis Figo and Ronaldo Nazario also made the journey to Saudi Arabia.
Eminem and Ye (formerly Kanye West) represented the music world, whilst a raft of boxing talent past and present including Amir Khan, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, and Manny Pacquiao.
As well as representing one of the country’s biggest sporting imports, Ronaldo is a sponsor of Riyadh Season – an entertainment and sports festival kicked off by Saturday’s event.
