Game two highlights
With the national anthem and player intros nearing, let’s complete our recap with a look back at the Warriors’ big win in game two.
What to watch for
Who of the supporting stars will step up?
It’s pretty much a given that both Jayson Tatum (Celtics) and Steph Curry (Warriors) will get at least 25 points. If either pushes 40, then they become a real difference-maker. In game one, Al Horford had 26 points and Derrick White 21 and the Celtics won. In game two, that duo combined for just 14 points. It was the Warriors’ support cast who starred, with Jordan Poole’s 17-point night headlining a group of four Warriors who reached double figures.
Is it Klay time?
After a pair of horrible injuries in recent years, Warriors guard Klay Thompson’s long road back to his best continues. He’s shown glimpses this season, but consistency has not been a strength. His one-time defensive prowess isn’t what it used to be, but he still has the stroke to be one of the league’s elite shooters. If he fires a couple of times over the remainder of the series, the Cs will be in strife.
Draymond being Draymond
He’s one of the few players in the league who control matches without scoring. But there’s also a troubling side to this perennial All Star. In games like this he sails too close to the wind in terms of relying on the dark arts to get the upper hand. He came close to getting ejected for a second technical foul in game two.Surely the Celtics will be doing all they can to get him to explode.
