Lauren Jackson injures knee just minutes into WNBL record attempt
Basketball legend Lauren Jackson has limped off with a suspected knee injury less than two minutes into the WNBL game being played in her honour at John Cain Arena on Saturday.
Jackson’s Southside Flyers and opponents Sydney Flames are attempting to break the league’s long-standing crowd record of 7500 set in 1995 and signs look promising with the vast majority of seats filled at the venue.

But on the first defensive play of the game, Flames import Jocelyn Willoughby drove the basket and appeared to bump knees with Jackson who has starred for the Flyers and, before that, the Australian Opals, following her comeback last year.
The 42-year-old’s knee twisted awkwardly, and she immediately signalled to the bench that she needed to come off, limping to the sideline before soon going down into the locker rooms with team medical staff.
Jackson has been playing on despite having a fractured foot since December.
