7ft 14-year-old basketball phenom has to be seen to be believed

Imagine the feeling of being a 14-year-old walking onto the basketball court for the tip-off, only to stare up at someone the same age as you standing at 2.26m tall.

For a number of young Chinese basketball players, that was the unfortunate reality.

They trotted onto the hardwood, only to find Zhang Ziyu, who stands at a whopping 7-foot, five-inches tall, gazing straight down at them.

In a clip that’s going viral, Ziyu’s exploits on the court are sending fans crazy with just how easy she takes control of the game.

Even straight from the tip-off, her opponent standing opposite her is just a mere formality in the opening proceedings.

The footage came from the China Nationals championship, in which Ziyu’s team won.

It was no thanks to an insane stat line from her, as she scored 42 points, had 25 rebounds and six blocks to boot.

Both of Ziyu’s parents were former basketball players, too.

Despite being 14 years young, Ziyu is almost the same height as China’s most famous basketball player, Yao Ming.

He stands at 2.29m tall, and enjoyed a nine-year career in the NBA with the Houston Rockets.
