David Warner created history in three T20s against Sri Lanka but Pakistan believes it knows how to stop the in-form Aussie star.
Australia's series sweep
David Warner has been on fire this home summer.
Welcome to our live coverage of today’s T20 between Australia and Pakistan in Sydney.
The Aussies will be keen to continue their winning ways after romping to a 3-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka to kick off the home summer.
The match is scheduled to start at 2.30pm AEDT.
Rain in Sydney…
But Pakistan is the world’s top-ranked side in the format for a reason. It is also well aware it must stop Warner to have any hope, after he whacked a combined 217 without losing his wicket in the three wins over Sri Lanka.
He made history by becoming the first opening batsman not to be dismissed in an international series of at least three T20s.
Warner was also Australia’s best batsman in the World Cup facing the white ball, and the leading run-scorer in the Indian Premier League this year, and said he wants to "maintain that rage" in the Pakistan series.
But the tourists have other ideas.
“We have our plans for him, and the attempts will be to remove him quickly,” Babar said.
"He's one of Australia's really good batsmen. We have our frontline bowlers, we have a strategy ready for David.
"Obviously, once he gets going, he gets going but we have a strategy in place for all facets."
“We have plans ready with (quicks) Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Amir.”
Towering fast bowler Irfan may play a key role in using the extra pace and bounce in pitches Down Under to trouble the Aussie batsmen. Standing at 2.16m tall, the giant left-armer hasn’t played international cricket in three years but will be keen to impress upon his return to the big stage.
