Paddy Pimblett admitted he “blew his load” trying to score a knockout win over Tony Ferguson.

The Baddy was awarded the win 30-27 on all three judges’ scorecards at UFC 296 in Las Vegas as he picked up the biggest scalp of his UFC career so far. Pimblett, who underwent ankle surgery earlier this year, was sporting in victory, hailing Ferguson as a “legend”. He added: “It's a f****n honour to share the cage with him.

“You can't deny me then, I won every round quite easily. I’m still a little bit disappointed that I did not get the finish but I'm glad with myself.”

The 28-year-old was impressed Ferguson survived his first-round barrage. Pimblett said: “Jesus Christ, how did he survive that first round? I blew me load trying to get him out of there. 99 out of 100 men quit.

"But, credit to him, he kept going for another 10 minutes. The fact he got out of that first round made it more difficult for me in the second and third rounds because I felt a bit tired."

He now holds an impressive 21-3 MMA record with six knockouts. Pimblett, who went into the bout unbeaten in his four-fight UFC career, was unhappy with his performance against Jared Gordon 12 months ago. The result of that bout shocked MMA fighters and pundits, with many believing Gordon should have been awarded the win.

Before his walkout, the UFC played a promotional video, with Pimblett vowing to "give the fans their money's worth" after "disappointing them" in his last performance.
