Barcelona transfer news: Most likely ins and outs ranked and rated – Griezmann and Neymar

Barcelona endured a frustrating 2018/19 campaign, dominating in La Liga but tasting defeat in the Copa del Rey final and suffering humiliation at the hands of Liverpool in the Champions League.

The Catalan giants are looking to stay one step ahead of their rivals and lay the base for another season competing on multiple fronts by strengthening across the board.

Valverde has already secured the signing of Frenkie de Jong, having agreed terms in January, and have also been heavily linked with Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.

Antoine Griezmann and Neymar are further high-profile names that could be seen at the Nou Camp next season while a couple of stars are heading for the exits – but who is most likely to finalise a deal according to Football Whispers?

(1 – unlikely, 5 – very likely)

Departures

Thomas Vermaelen looks set to be released from his contract while Kevin-Prince Boateng has returned to Sassuolo after his loan deal expired.

Barcelona have an option to buy Jeison Murillo permanently for £22.6million but appear unlikely to take this up while Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Rakitic have both been attracting attention around Europe but neither have been given a rating by Football Whispers.

2. Ousmane Dembele (to Paris Saint-Germain) – 2.7

Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel is familiar with Dembele from their time together at Borussia Dortmund and the 21-year-old is reportedly top of the French champions wishlist despite a mediocre campaign.

Dembele was plagued by injuries this season, managing just four goals and six assists following his £135m move last summer, while his poor attitude has rankled the club hierarchy and he could be used as a makeweight in a deal for Neymar.

1. Jasper Cillessen (to Benfica) – 3.3

Cillessen wants to leave and the club wants to sell after the Dutchman revealed his frustration at being second-choice behind Marc Andre ter Stegen.

Benfica are the leading candidates for the stopper, although interest has been limited due to his high wages and reported inflated asking price of £53m.

Arrivals

7. Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain) – 2.8

Lionel Messi is said to be keen on a reunion with Neymar, who left the Nou Camp for a staggering fee of £198m in 2017.

For his part, the Brazilian wants to return from PSG but any move would depend on Barca shifting both Coutinho and Dembele in order to free up space on the wage bill.

6. Willian (Chelsea) – 3.0

Barcelona went after the Brazilian during the January window, offering winger Malcom plus cash, and are now ready to rekindle their interest with a £30m bid.

Willian is into the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and may find his game time limited due to the arrival of Christian Pulisic.

5. Donny van de Beek (Ajax) – 3.0

The Ajax midfielder has hinted he wants a move to Manchester United or Tottenham this summer but is keeping his options open with Barcelona also sniffing after the 22-year-old.

Van de Beek has a contract until 2022 but would provide fresh legs in an ageing midfield where both Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic are the wrong side of 30.

4. Divock Origi (Liverpool) – 3.3

Origi was out of favour at Anfield for much of the season but scored vital winners against Everton and Newcastle before hitting a double against Barcelona and scoring in the Champions League final.

Liverpool want the Belgian to stay at the club, although Barca were said to be keen on the striker as a back-up to Luis Suarez.

3. Christian Eriksen (Tottenham Hotspur) – 3.5

Eriksen has hinted that he is in search of a fresh challenge after five years without a trophy at Spurs.

While Real Madrid are leading the race for the his signature, the Dane is also attracting attention from Barcelona as they look for an upgrade on Coutinho.

2. Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) – 4.2

Griezmann has openly stated that he wants to leave Atletico this summer and appeared to have his sights set on the Nou Camp, only to reportedly be rejected by key figures in the Barca dressing room.

The Frenchman has a buyout clause of £106m, which Barcelona had been prepared to pay, but now a move to PSG looks more likely.

1. Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax) – 4.3

Manchester United and PSG are also monitoring the Ajax captain but recent reports suggest the Catalan giants have an agreement in place to sign De Ligt, if he chooses.

Spanish football reporter Oriol Domenech claims Barcelona and Ajax have agreed on a fee of about £67m for the 19-year-old, but any deal is not expected to be announced until July.
