The playoff field will be cut from 16 to 12 on Sunday evening, as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs heads to the road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Bank of America Roval 400.
The final three of those spots are really up for grabs, with 14 points separating 15th place from 12th place. The battles between Aric Almirola (11th), William Byron (12th), Alex Bowman (13th) and Clint Bowyer (14th) will take center stage.
At the top of the standings, Martin Truex, Jr. is on a two-race winning streak, but he had a practice mishap due to a missed shift, a surprising mistake for a driver with four wins and 10 top-five finishes on road courses in his career.
Truex is one of three drivers who have sewn up spots in the top 12, along with Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick, though many others would require a collapse to be eliminated.
Blaney won the inaugural race on the Charlotte road course last year.
