Nazem Kadri is making a habit of this.
The Maple Leafs center was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for a high hit on Bruins winger Jake DeBrusk in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference playoffs on Saturday.
Kadri’s hit did not earn him a match penalty, but it may well earn him a suspension.

If the ruling on Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov is any indication, Kadri is definitely going to see a suspension for this.
He hit DeBrusk high and hard which left the Bruins forward down on the ice.
Kucherov was suspended for one game following his hit on Blue Jackets defenseman Markus Nutivaara in Tampa Bay’s 5-1 Game 2 loss to Columbus on Friday.
This hit is not as egregious as that one as Nutivaara was down on his knees along the boards when Kucherov decided to hit him, but it comes with a history.

Kadri was suspended for three games in last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs when he boarded Bruins winger Tommy Wingels. That hit bore a strong resemblance to that of Kucherov and was met with harsh discipline from NHL Player Safety.
The Maple Leafs lost to the Bruins 4-1 on Saturday to move into a 1-1 tie in the series with Boston as they will shift back to Toronto for Games 3 and 4.
