We have a great week going with the BetQL picks, going a perfect 5-0 after taking last night off due to the short slate of games. Friday brings another excellent set of games to choose from, and there are plenty of matchups that have undervalued lines. By far the most interesting matchup of the night is an American League tilt between the Red Sox and the Astros. We’ll be targeting two games that, while being much less hyped, still offer some excellent value both on the money line and against the run line.

Texas Rangers at Los Angeles Angels
Starting Pitchers: Drew Smyly vs. Griffin Canning
Money Line: TEX +135, LAA -160
Run Line: TEX +1.5 (-140), LAA -1.5 (+120)
Total: O/U 9.5 Runs
The Angels have been one of the best teams in baseball to fade this season, and they come into their matchup with the Rangers ice cold following a three-game sweep to the Twins. Last night’s loss to Minnesota dropped the Angels season total to -5.4 units on a one unit money-line bet per game, so I was surprised to see that they came in as fairly sizeable -160 favorites against the Rangers. While Texas is by no means a great team, it has played some solid baseball over the past month, going 7-1 over the past eight games.
I think the primary factor behind this line is the pitching matchup between Drew Smyly and Griffin Canning. Smyly has been terrible on the road this season, allowing eight earned runs in fewer than eight innings, while Canning is coming off the best start of his young career, throwing seven shutout innings against the Royals. With that being said, it’s hard to trust an Angels team that is 2-5 over its past seven games at home at -160 on the money line. Take the value on the underdog Rangers, who are the better overall team.
BetQL Pick: Texas Rangers Money Line (+135)

Tampa Bay Rays at Cleveland Indians
Starting Pitchers: Blake Snell vs. Shane Bieber
Money Line: TAM -140, CLE +120
Run Line: TAM -1.5 (+120), CLE +1.5 (-140)
Total: O/U 7.5
The Rays have continued to be one of the most overachieving teams in the league, and tonight they will throw their ace Blake Snell in a matchup with the Indians. Cleveland has been mediocre for the better part of the season and has been struggling over the past few weeks, losing four straight and going a poor 3-7 SU and ATS over its past 10 games.
The pitching matchup is the best of the night between Snell and Shane Bieber, who is coming off of a dominant 15-K shutout of the Orioles. The sports books might be overvaluing Bieber coming off of his last start, as he had had a tendency to get blown up every few outings during his career. Snell has been excellent on the road over the past two seasons and has allowed one earned run or fewer in eight of his past nine starts away from home. There is more value on taking the Rays against the run line at +120 and we could be in for a dominant performance from Snell against a slumping Indians lineup.
BetQL Pick: Tampa Bay Rays Run Line (+120)
