The Texans won’t have a general manager in 2019.
According to ESPN , which cited unidentified sources, Houston will instead divvy up the responsibilities of the role among existing front-office members.
Executives expected to assume those duties include director of player personnel Matt Bazirgan, director of college scouting James Liipfert, senior vice president for football administration Chris Olsen and executive VP for team development Jack Easterby, the report noted.
The Texans fired former GM Brian Gaine in a surprising move on June 7 less than two years into his five-year deal. He was hired as the Texans’ GM in January 2018 after previous general manager Rick Smith stepped down to take care of his wife, who is battling cancer.
