Jake Arrieta could face discipline for threatening to dent Todd Frazier’s skull, report says

Jake Arrieta’s comments could come back to haunt him.

According to NBC Sports Philadelphia, the Phillies pitcher could face discipline from MLB “probably in the form of a fine” for his dented skull threat directed at Mets third baseman Todd Frazier.

The remarks stem from Saturday’s game at Citi Field, when Frazier was tossed from the game for screaming at Arrieta and the home plate umpire after he was hit by a pitch. The reaction prompted Arrieta to lose his cool and say he would “put a dent in his skull.”

Frazier admitted Arrieta likely didn’t mean to hit him, but added it’s coincidental that he was beaned by a member of the Phillies again. It was the second day in a row Frazier was hit by a Philadelphia pitcher and third time overall by the Phillies this season. Both sides were warned to calm down after the incident, which only made Frazier more frustrated.
