‘We are playing IPL… not club cricket’: Virat Kohli left fuming as no ball on last delivery is missed by umpire and Mumbai beat Bangalore by six runs… after Jos Buttler ‘Mankad’ controversy
- Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore in thrilling IPL match
- The umpires missed a no ball from Lasith Malinga on the last delivery
- Virat Kohli lambasted the umpires after saying they ‘should have their eyes open’
Virat Kohli blasted the umpires for failing to call a no ball on the last delivery as Royal Challengers Bangalore were beaten by six runs by Mumbai Indians.
The Challengers needed seven to win – six to force a super over – off the last ball, which Shivam Dube could only knock down to long-on for a single.
Before the India skipper could give his post-match interview big screens in the stadium were already showing that Lasith Malinga had over-stepped the mark.

It would have given Bangalore one more ball – a free hit – to try and hit the maximum that would have tied the game, with AB De Villiers, 70 not out, on strike.
Kohli was visibly furious after the game and did not hold back in his condemnation of the no call.
‘We are playing at IPL level, not club cricket … that’s just a ridiculous call off the last ball’, he said.
‘The umpires should have their eyes open, it was a no-ball by an inch.

‘It’s a completely different game altogether. so if it’s a game of margins, I don’t know what’s happening. They should have been more sharp and more careful out there.’
The latest controversy comes after Jos Buttler was ‘Mankaded’ by Ravichandran Ashwin earlier this week.
The England batsman looked set for a superb innings return on 69 off 43 balls for the Rajasthan Royals as they chased 184 set by Kings XI Punjab.
But his time at the crease was brought to a premature end when the Indian spinner Ashwin dismissed him using a tactic that while lawful, is widely seen as being against the spirit of the game.
The Royals collapsed and Kings XI won by 14 runs.
