Dhoni has made 341 ODI appearances and captained India to World Cup success in 2011.
He made 34 with the bat in India’s win over South Africa on Wednesday with the wicketkeeper also stumping Andile Phehlukwayo.
Dhoni has been shrouded in controversy this week after the International Cricket Council asked him to remove a military insignia from his wicket-keeping gloves.
Dhoni is a member of a reserve force called the Territorial Army in India.
He has sported the logo of the special forces on his gloves however the ICC says this flouts regulations.
“The regulations for ICC events do not permit any individual message or logo to be displayed on any items of clothing or equipment,” an ICC statement said.
“In addition to this, the logo also breaches the regulations in relation to what is permitted on wicketkeeper gloves.”
